Motorsport Park Hastings Hires Jeff Lacina as General Manager
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Hastings, Nebraska – The ownership group of Motorsports Park Hastings announces the hiring of Jeff Lacina as General Manager of the multi-use facility located on the east edge of the city. In his role as General Manager, Lacina will oversee all daily track operations as well as all promotions, marketing, and event management functions, including group, corporate and private event rentals.
Motorsports Park Hastings (raceMPH.com) is a 2.15-mile, 13-turn asphalt road course that hosts a wide range of on-track events, including wheel-to-wheel sports car and vintage racing, as well as motorcycle and go-kart racing events. The track is also host to their own Guardrail Club for owners of high-performance street and race cars. The track conducts numerous high performance driver education schools over the course of the year, along with their own Grudge Drag Racing Events on the road course’s front straight for licensed, street-legal cars and trucks.
“Jeff brings years of motorsports experience as well as a unique combination of marketing, communications, editorial, performance driving education and racing knowledge to our team at Motorsport Park Hastings,” says Terry Klatt, one of the owner/partners in the facility and owner of Klatt Motorsports. “We’d been contracting with Jeff for several years in a Race Director role for several years now. This summer the opportunity presented itself to bring him on full-time as General Manager for our entire facility. His passion for grassroots and professional motorsports is unmistakable. Combine this with his professional marketing and communications skills, experience and industry connections and I think it is fair to say we are genuinely excited about the future of our unique facility.”
In addition to the road course, covered Race Port, expansive paddock and unique “club house” that overlooks Turn 13, the Motorsport Park Hastings facility also features privately-owned garage condo units that overlook several sections of the track. “When you look around the country, there aren’t many race facilities that offer private ownership for those enthusiasts who want to have their own ‘dream garage’ at a race track,” notes Lacina. “It is amazing what each owner does with their facility – each one reflects the owner’s individual tastes in cars, trucks and motorsports in general. It’s a wonderfully dynamic community that will only grow over time and development efforts of the owner/partners, the garage condo owners and myself,”
“I fell in love with the facility on my first visit: the track layout, the clubhouse, the garage condos and of course, all the workers and staff. It’s been somewhat of a ‘hidden gem’ since it first opened in 2006, but we will be making sure that everyone knows about our facility moving forward,” adds Lacina.
High-Performance Driving Career
Lacina attended his first road course / open track event at Road America in 1987 and has been hooked on driving road courses ever since. He began his in-car instructing career in 1997 with the BMWCCA, PCA and Audi Car Clubs and then in 2001, Lacina graduated from the Bondurant School of High Performance Driving and just one year later, developed and launched his own high-performance driving education program, Track Guys Performance Driving Events. Lacina and his Track Guys program was then contracted by Ford’s Special Vehicle Team (SVT) to conduct performance driving clinics for Ford SVT owners across North America until 2007.
In 2012, Lacina competed in and won his class in the grueling One Lap of America, an eight-day event contested on consecutive days on race tracks across the United States. He is also a licensed Instructor for the National Auto Sports Association (NASA) and has won regional championships competing in Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Solo II / autocross events. Lacina also served as Great Lakes Region Race Director for the World Racing League in 2018 and to date, he has driven or instructed on 99 different race tracks across North America.
Prior to joining Motorsport Park Hastings, Lacina served an International Sales Representative for Sydney, Australia-based Speedmaster, Marketing & Communications Manager at LTA Manufacturing and Castle Creations in the Olathe, Kansas area, as well as Manager of Marketing Communications for John Deere Financial in Johnston, IA and Marketing Manager for Accessible Technologies, Inc. / ProCharger Superchargers / Inovair in Lenexa, KS. In 2011, he formed Lacina Marketing & Communications Group in 2011 and worked for numerous automotive and motorsports clients and helped relaunch the Fun Ford Series events that same year. Lacina has also served as a free-lance writer for several automotive and motorsports magazines and websites. He is also co-owner of his family’s row crop and cattle farming operation in central Iowa.
“I’m really looking forward to bringing my professional motorsports, marketing and management experience to one-of-a-kind facility we have here at Motorsports Park Hastings,” says Lacina. “The future is incredibly bright for our facility, and I am truly excited to be a part of an organization that is fully-committed to motorsports and building a community of like-minded garage condo owners and enthusiasts.”
